What is important is the goal, purple belt. That is what I keep telling my self. I miss a class or a week because of sickness, family, injury etc. Organize my thoughts, heal up, fight back the fear, and get back on the path. Stop thinking. One step after the next.
Blue Belt Week 90, September 6, 2013

That is an awesome goal, purple belt. Saulo Ribeiro says the measuring stick for a purple belt is the guard. So, I have been trying to learn/train in the various guards: full, situp, De La Riva, 2 on 1 and so forth. I am not there yet, but on the path. Sometimes, it feels like an overwhelming learning curve.
I agree. It is overwhelming at times. I wasn’t given a lot of criteria for the blue belt program by the instructors except that it takes around two years to obtain Purple with regular practice. As a blue belt, I would like to have mastery of the fundamental lessons of self defense before earning Purple.
